Frisco, Texas (August 16, 2022) – North Texas SC announced today that the club and defender Derek Waldeck agreed to a mutual contract termination. The defender will join Greenville Triumph SC of USL League One.

Waldeck, 24, leaves North Texas SC with the second most all-time club appearances with 57 total combined over USL League One and MLS NEXT Pro play. He’s also the club’s current leader in minutes played with 4,298 total over three seasons. Waldeck scored his only goal for the club in the 3-1 win over Minnesota United FC 2 in the inaugural match of MLS NEXT Pro on March 26. Waldeck earned three USL League One Team of the Week honors during the 2021 campaign and one Team of the Week honor during the 2020 season.

“As I leave the club, I am most thankful for the relationships that this club brought into my life,” Said Waldeck. “I was able to cross paths with some incredible people. FC Dallas has such a unique culture and has set an incredible foundation that is built upon the principles of great people. I got to share the locker room with amazing guys, some great coaches and even beyond the field some great people at the organization. It’s been such a blessing getting to know those people. I will forever be grateful for those relationships and experiences that came with being part of FC Dallas and North Texas SC.”

“Derek has been an integral part of the team over the years,” said North Texas SC General Manager Matt Denny. “We are thankful for his hard work and support over the three years that he has been here. We are happy to see him grow, and we will fully support him in this next step of his career.”
