MANSFIELD, Texas (Sept. 15, 2026) - North Texas SC midfielder Ian Charles has been called up to the Puerto Rico senior national team for the 2026-27 Concacaf Nations League from Sept. 23-Oct. 6. Puerto Rico will compete in League B.
Charles made 16 appearances this season with North Texas after making his season debut against Timber2 on April 19. He signed with the club in January 2026 after spending the second half of 2025 with UCLA, where he made his collegiate debut against UC Irvine on Aug. 21, 2025. Charles made his professional debut as an FC Dallas Academy player against St Louis CITY2 on March 9, 2025. He scored his first professional goal against Austin FC II on April 11, 2025, earning MLS NEXT Pro Rising Star of Matchweek 5 honors.
The Celebration, Florida, native has six appearances and scored one goal for Puerto Rico in the 2023 Concacaf U-17 Championship. Charles made his senior national team debut against Saudi Arabia on June 5, 2026.
