AlanAvi Defeats 2018 and 2019 eMLS Cup Champions in Night Two of Series One Qualifiers

Halfway through the four-night League One Series qualifying stage, Alan (AlanAvi) Avila holds a 3-1-4 record (13 points), tied for eighth place in the standings with six matches left in the qualifiers.

Avila shutout both the 2018 and 2019 eMLS Cup Champions early into his second night of the qualifying stage. He defeated Chicago Fire’s Kid M3mito 3-0 before securing a 5-0 win against Nashville SC’s DOOLSTA. Avila drew 2-2 against the Colorado Rapids’ Gonzo and collected his first loss of the season against Inter Miami CF’s IMCF_Pabs. Avila lost 4-2 to Inter Miami.

Avila continues the qualifying stage next week and will face D.C. United, Los Angeles FC, Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC’s eMLS players on Jan. 12.

Each player will compete in a slate of 14 single-leg qualifying matches, which are set for January 5-6 and 12-13. Competitors will earn three points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss, with the top eight players advancing to the two-leg League Series One Tournament on January 16-17. The prize pool for League Series One is $15,000.

League Series One is the first of three eMLS tournaments taking place in 2021. The season will continue in February with eMLS League Two presented by Coca-Cola and conclude with the eMLS Cup presented by Coca-Cola on March 20-21. The season will feature a $70,000 prize pool. Matches will be played on EA SPORTS FIFA 21, exclusively on PlayStation 4.
