2020 Lineup Notes DL V2

LINEUP NOTES, pres. by UnitedHealthcare: FC Dallas vs. Sporting Kansas City | 9.2.20

FRISCO, Texas – Luchi gives midfielder Brandon Servania his first start of the year as FC Dallas takes on first place Sporting KC tonight, Sept. 2 at Children's Mercy Park at 7:30PM CT. Let's take a look at the rest of the Starting XI in the Lineup Notes, pres. by UnitedHealthcare.

Servania's First Start of 2020
Midfielder Brandon Servania gets his first start of the season after dealing with two separate injuries which has limited him to short cameos so far this campaign. The 21-year-old missed out on Dallas' first two games due to a knee injury before the season was halted. Since the restart, Servania has managed two sub appearances while working his way back from an adductor issue. His return is a huge positive for FCD as he brings a strong work rate, good defensive instincts and an impressive passing range to the team's midfield.

Familiar Defense
After a few weeks of chopping and changing, Luchi opts to field the same backline that helped earn a 3-1 win over Minnesota on Saturday. Johnny Nelson makes his fourth consecutive start at left back alongside the center back partnership of Reto Ziegler and Matt Hedges. Ryan Hollingshead remains at right back after switching from the opposite flank to fill in for Reggie Cannon who's not in the match day squad.

Barrios is Back
Midfielder Michael Barrios returns to his familiar right wing position after being a substitute for 17-year-old Ricardo Pepi who started in his place against the Loons over the weekend. Pepi performed well in his first start for the club, registering an assist for Jesús Ferreira on Dallas' second goal. However, the speed and experience of Barrios has been preferred for tonight's match as Dallas takes on the current highest scoring team in MLS.

Ricaurte Makes the Bench
New signing Andrés Ricaurte makes Dallas' bench for the first time since joining the club on loan from Independiente Medellín last month. Ricaurte has only taken part in a handful of first team training sessions after completing his quarantine period since moving to Frisco from Colombia. Still, there's a chance he gets some late-game minutes if FCD needs a creative spark off the bench.
