FRISCO, Texas – Both Bressan and Jesús Ferreira return to the starting lineup as FC Dallas takes on Houston Dynamo in the Texas Derby tonight, Aug. 21 at 7PM at BBVA Stadium. Let's take a closer look at the lineup in this evenings' Lineup Notes, pres. by UnitedHealthcare.
Another Formation Change
After using his classic 4-3-3 formation in the rematch vs. Nashville last Sunday, Luchi has shifted to a 3-4-3 for tonight's derby. That's now the third formation Luchi has fielded in as many games since the regular season restarted on Aug. 12.
Bressan and Ferreira are Back
With Luchi reverting to a three-man defense, center back Bressan rejoins the starting lineup alongside Matt Hedges and Reto Ziegler in Dallas' back line. Homegrown Jesús Ferreira also returns to the starting XI but this time at left wing instead of his previous attacking midfield role.
Nelson Retains his Place
Last week, second year defender Johnny Nelson started at left back in place of Ryan Hollingshead who's unavailable after traveling commercially to California to attend his father's memorial. Now with Dallas in a 3-4-3, Nelson will play as a wingback and be expected to join the attack more often than he did in his last outing against Nashville. This is Nelson's second start of the year and the sixth of his career.
Starting XI: Jimmy Mauer; Reto Ziegler, Matt Hedges, Bressan, Johnny Nelson, Reggie Cannon, Thiago Santos, Bryan Acosta; Jesús Ferreira, Franco Jara, Michael Barrios
Substitutes — Kyle Zobeck, Brandon Servania, Tanner Tessmann, Paxton Pomykal, Bryan Reynolds, Fafa Picault, Santiago Mosquera, Ricardo Pepi, Zdenek Ondrasek
