FRISCO, Texas – Next up on the FCD Rewind series is FC Dallas vs. Real Salt Lake from June 3, 2017. The match will be replayed this Sunday, June 7 at 7PM on TXA 21.
Here’s why YOU should tune in this Sunday for FCD vs. RSL from 2017!
This Western Conference clash saw Real Salt Lake travel to face FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium. Although Dallas started the season with a nine-game unbeaten run, they had gone winless in the last three outings meaning this was a crucial opportunity to arrest the slide. RSL was experiencing their own troubles and had lost big to the Houston Dynamo 5-1 midweek before traveling north to Frisco to face FCD on the weekend. It was a goal-filled 90 minutes which saw TWO club milestones reached in quick succession.
Lamah’s Finest Hour
Dallas forward Roland Lamah stamped his authority on the game early on. The Belgian opened the scoring after 8 minutes and added his second goal shortly after. But he wasn’t done there. Lamah sealed his hat trick in 31 minutes with another solo goal, breaking the record for the fastest hat trick in club history. While Lamah enjoyed a solid scoring record over his Dallas career (20 goals from 72 starts) this game – and this half in particular – was undoubtedly his finest hour in an FC Dallas jersey.
A Debut to Remember
This game saw the MLS debut of one Jesús Ferreira. The then 16-year-old replaced hat trick hero Lamah in the 71st minute and it didn’t take him long to make his mark. With one minute left in regulation, Ferreira delicately cushioned Michael Barrios’ cross on the edge of the six-yard box and calmly slotted home for his first professional goal—making him the youngest goal scorer in franchise history.
