Here’s why YOU should tune in this Sunday for FCD vs. Colorado from the 2017 season.
FC Dallas has experienced its fair share of hurt at the hands of the Colorado Rapids—namely its agonizing defeat in the 2010 MLS Cup Final. This game, however, was FCD’s chance to repay some of that hurt as a victory over the Rapids would eliminate them from playoff contention. With both sides experiencing midseason lulls, this was a big opportunity to regain form for the playoff run-in.
Dallas entered the game on a 10-game winless run and was in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2013. Having won the Supporters’ Shield and Open Cup double the season before, expectations in Dallas were sky high and the team was in desperate need of a win to bring the feel-good feeling back to Toyota Stadium. Colorado was also going through its own difficult period and had just one win in its last 12 matches, making them a perfect opponent for Dallas to bounce back against.
Out of the Blocks
FC Dallas wasted no time making their intentions known. Oscar Pareja’s men flew out of the blocks and put two goals past Colorado ‘keeper Tim Howard within the first 10 minutes. Despite the early scoreline, Dallas didn’t sit back and continued to pepper Howard’s goal with some of its best free-flowing soccer of the 2017 campaign. The attacking quartet of Mauro Díaz, Michael Barrios, Roland Lamah and Maxi Urruti were relentless and their combination of speed and creativity made it a long night for Colorado’s beleaguered defense.
