FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas will not train this week after MLS’s announcement of a training moratorium through Friday, March 20 in response to COVID-19.
FCD’s last full training session was Thursday, March 12 after which the team was informed the league would be suspending play for a minimum of 30 days.
While normal training isn’t an option, Dallas players have been given individual workout plans to maintain fitness on their own, as head coach Luchi Gonzalez told 105.3 The Fan on Friday, March 13.
In that interview, Luchi reiterated his main goals were safety and helping his team work through this unprecedented break in the season.
“I have to say that I agree with this decision by the league because [our] health and safety is number one…We have a very committed team. I know they are going to do the extra [work] to be ready and be the most prepared so that when we are back together, we’re better off. We’re going to find solutions and we’re going to do the best we can to be prepared.”
