FRISCO - December 6, 2019 marks the one-year anniversary of the unveiling of North Texas Soccer Club. It was an incredible inaugural season for the team who ended the year as the first-ever USL League One Regular Season Champions, also capturing the playoff title. With the anniversary of the club one year ago to the day, here are the top two moments from year one.
#2 - North Texas SC Announces Move to Globe Life Park in Arlington
Over the course of the year, North Texas SC looked for a home to call their own. On October 3rd, they announced that they had found their new stadium. The team announced that they would be playing in Globe Life Park in Arlington, the old home of the Texas Rangers. North Texas will also be sharing the stadium with the Dallas Renegades, the Texas based team in the newly formed XFL.
#1 - North Texas Captures the Post Season Title
After a grueling schedule and long season, North Texas navigated their way to the first ever USL League One Championship match. With a big crowd to cheer them on at Toyota Stadium, North Texas struggled with the pressure of expectations as the number one seed. With the game heading towards overtime, star midfielder Arturo Rodriguez stepped forward and his driven shot found the corner, sparking wild celebrations as Rodriguez ran the length of the pitch to celebrate with the supporters section. When the final whistle blew, North Texas were the inaugural champions of USL League One.
