FRISCO, Texas — In recognition of enhancing Texas sports history, the Hunt family was given the 2019 Lamar Hunt Lifetime Achievement Award while celebrating their 60th anniversary in professional sports.
Current Kansas City Chiefs and FC Dallas Chairman and C.E.O. Clark Hunt accepted the award on behalf of the family along with his brother and President of FC Dallas, Dan Hunt. The Hunt family is the seventh recipient of the award, first established in 2006.
“For us, this is our family here,” Dan Hunt said at a private cocktail reception in the National Soccer Hall of Fame. “This is our FC Dallas family, our Hunt family.”
The lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor given by the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, and it was given to the family of the man who helped open the doors to the Hall.
“Clark and I had such an unbelievable adventure with our dad, and every time we get to talk about Lamar, we always say to each other, ‘Whatever you do, don’t screw up Dad’s legacy.’” Dan Hunt said, jokingly. “So, this is another opportunity to try and not screw that up.”
