ZERO LOSSES TO SEATTLE THIS YEAR

  • FC Dallas has not lost to the Sounders in the 2019 season. FC Dallas won against the Sounders 2-1 in June, and finished their match in Seattle with a 0-0 draw at CenturyLink Field. The match on September 18th was crucial in FC Dallas’ momentum that drove them to finish the season above the playoff line. They will head back to Seattle for their first match of playoffs looking to get a big win against the Sounders in yet another tough environment.

VETERAN LEADERSHIP

  • The Sounders have a large number of veterans on their squad prepared to head in to another trip to playoffs. With players like Nicolas, Lodeiro Stefan Frei, Cristian Roldan and many more, playoffs are no new atmosphere to the Sounders roster. On the other side of the field, FC Dallas has a young roster that has many players making their first playoff push. Veterans like Matt Hedges, Reto Ziegler, and Jesse Gonzalez will be the leading presence heading in to playoffs with the younger players like Paxton Pomykal, Jesus Ferreira, and Brandon Servania will be experiencing the postseason intensity for the first time with FC Dallas.

THE TIME IS NOW

  • With the new MLS playoff format this year, it will be an all or nothing matchup against the Sounders. FC Dallas has said that this is a 5 step process and showed their ability to perform when the stakes are high, with an offensive performance that led to a big 6-0 win in the match against Sporting Kansas City. They now look to the next step of beating the Sounders in the first round in order to get one step closer to the final goal of the MLS Cup.

SHUT DOWN LODEIRO

  • Sounders midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro currently is the all-time leading postseason scorer for the Seattle Sounders club. He has scored 7 goals for the Sounders this season, and has scored 5 goals in the 13 playoff matches he has played with Seattle throughout his career. FC Dallas defense will need to contain and shut down opportunities in their half of the field, especially with Lodeiro who thrives in the playoff environment.
