North Texas SC vs Orlando City B Match Preview | 9.6.19

FRISCO — USL League One leaders North Texas SC (13-5-5 (+14), 44 points) will visit last place Orlando City B (3-16-4 (-24), 13 points) at Montverde Academy on Friday, September 6that 6:30 PM CT. The teams have played twice at Toyota Stadium. The first result was a 1-0 win for North Texas, and the second was a 4-1 victory for the Texas based team.

Current Form
North Texas SC comes into good form. It has won their last two matches by a combined seven goals, and kept two clean sheets, including a clean sheet against free scoring Toronto FC II. It has only lost once in their last five, and although North Texas lost on the road to Lansing, the previous road game was a victory over the Chattanooga Red Wolves, which was Chattanooga’s first home loss of the season.

The Opponent
Orlando City B have had a disappointing season. It sits at the bottom of the league, having only earned 13 points with three wins. The team is the only team to replace their coach, and their mixed fortunes have only gotten worse since the change. They have gone 0-8-1 with new head coach Roberto Sibaja, and recent their home record makes for dire reading, having lost four of their last five.

Players to Watch
The recent improvement in North Texas’s form has coincided with marked defensive improvement. In their last three wins they have kept clean sheets, and key to the clean sheets and improvement has been center back Brecc Evans. Evans has been one of the most consistent players on the team, and the only games he has not played in were due to injury. He leads all defenders in minutes and interceptions. He also ranks in the top 3 in tackles, blocks, aerial duels, and aerial duels won. Evans is the captain of North Texas SC, and he clearly leads by example.

Orlando has not had too many things to cheer over the season. One bright light they have is the play of Serginho. The attacking midfielder is at the center of all their good play, and leads the team in assists and key passes. He also leads the team in shots and shots on target. Serginho is also excellent defensively, as he has the second most tackles, tackles won, and interceptions. If they are to take any points from North Texas, Orlando will be counting on a great performance from their all action midfielder.
