FRISCO - North Texas SC defender Callum Montgomery has been named USL League One Player of the Week and midfielder Arturo Rodriguez was named to League One's Team of the Week for their performances in the club's week 2-0 win over Chattanooga Red Wolves SC on Saturday, August 17th.
Callum Montgomery has become an integral part of the team, having played at right sided center back in five of their last six games, and was key to the first clean sheet in four games. Montgomery was a one-man wrecking ball, winning six duels and making a team high five clearances. He also chipped in with the crucial opening goal goal, his third of the year, that put North Texas in the driving seat for the rest of the game. Montgomery was crucial in handing Chattanooga their first home defeat of the season and was also named Player of the Week for his dominant performance.
Arturo Rodriguez has been one of the stars for North Texas this year. Rodriguez has been an integral part of the team’s attack, and his assist for Ronaldo Damus’s goal, a perfectly weighted free kick, put him alone atop the USL League One assist column with seven assists. He created the most chances in the game for either team with seven chances created, which only increased his sizable lead as the player with the most chances created in the league. This is Rodriguez's seventh Team of the Week selection.
