FRISCO, Texas- FC Dallas heads on the road to face conference opponent Minnesota United at Allianz Field on Saturday night. They will be looking to build on the win over D.C. United on the Fourth of July and gain another three points this weekend to boost their spot in the MLS standings. Let's take a look at tonight's Lineup Notes, presented by UnitedHealthCare.
BADJI STARTS UP TOP
Dominique Badji moves back to the top of the lineup this week after playing a majority of his games thus far on the left wing. Badji has been a key piece in the attack scoring 5 goals, and two assists so far this season. Badji moving to the middle of the attack allows for some rotation with Santiago Mosquera and gives Jesus Ferreira a break and makes the opponent prepare for different styles.
REGGIE CANNON RETURNS
Reggie Cannon returns to the backline this week after being gone for a month with the USMNT for Gold Cup. Cannon's return to the lineup adds depth back in to the backline after a long stretch of games. Along with veterans Ryan Hollingshead, Reto Ziegler, and Matt Hedges the backline will have a strong form that will challenge Minnesota in finding openings. Along with the veteran starting lineup, Bressan and Bryan Reynolds add an added level of pressure to the bench.
BALANCING THE MIDFIELD
We see a strong midfield presence again this week heading in to Minnesota. Paxton Pomykal continues to hold his starting position in the front midfield after being a key piece and progressing as a team leader as he continues to impress in his performance. Homegrown Brandon Servania and Bryan Acosta close out the midfield adding youth and experience to the depth. Both players have shown they can pressure the opponent and close gaps that create openings for shots and goal opportunities.
