FRISCO - North Texas SC forward Ronaldo Damus has been named USL League One Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. The Haitian scored a goal in each of North Texas' games last week, including the game-winner against FC Tucson on June 25. Teammates Jonathan Gomez and Arturo Rodriguez were also included in the Team of the Week for Week 14 for their stellar performances over both games.
Damus scored the game-winning goal in North Texas' match against FC Tucson to become the outright top goal-scorer in the league last Tuesday. He netted again in the following match against Lansing Ignite FC to bring his tally to nine goals on the season. Having scored in four consecutive games, this is Damus' second Player of the Week award in just three weeks after also earning the recognition in Week 12.
Defender Jonathan Gomez was also included in the Team of the Week for Week 14 for a breakout performance against Lansing Ignite on Saturday. The 15-year-old left-back registered his first and second professional assists to help North Texas to a 3-1 victory. The younger brother of fellow FC Dallas Academy and North Texas SC player Johan Gomez, Jonathan made six defensive recoveries and completed 44 of 51 passes en route to his first Team of the Week honor.
Arturo Rodriguez earned his fourth Team of the Week inclusion of the season following strong displays in both matches last week. The Mexican-born playmaker contributed with a goal and six key passes passes over the two games and was once again a major influence in Eric Quill's midfield. Rodriguez ties teammate Ricardo Pepi with a team-high four Team of the Week appearances.
