FRISCO, Texas- The FC Dallas U-19s continued their winning streak in the playoffs with an easy 2-0 victory over the Michigan Wolves U-19s. The U-19 team has now won 4 in a row, and all 4 of the wins were by 2 goals or more.
A tense first half was punctuated by chances for both teams. FC Dallas goalkeeper Michael Collodi made some good saves, clearly determined to keep his first clean sheet since the opening matchday of the playoffs. On offense, some good chances fell to Jorge Almauger and Johan Gomez, but they were unable to beat the opposing keeper and find the back of the net.
In the second half FC Dallas raised the intensity and started to increase their possession, especially in the final third. Beni Redzic came on in the 55thminute and 12 minutes later he powered a shot past the keeper to finally break the stubborn defense of the Michigan Wolves. Midfielder Tanner Tessman added a second in the 79th minute which broke the resistance of the Wolves and allowed the FC Dallas U-19 to coast to a 2-0 victory.
With this victory, the FC Dallas U-19 team moves into the semi-finals with their eyes on the prize. The U-17 team will hope to follow suit on Tuesday the 25th, while the U-19 team will play on Wednesday the 26th with a chance to make it to the final.
