FRISCO, Texas- FC Dallas’s U-17 squad started strong in their playoff push, beating Atlanta FC’s U-17 squad 3-0.
David Rodriguez opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and Michael Sosa added a second right before the halftime whistle which demoralized Atlanta. FC Dallas picked up right where they left off and Rodriguez scored a second right after halftime in the 47th minute to end the game as a contest.
Head Coach Matias Asorey said after the match “The team played well against a difficult opponent. It’s a great start.” The U-17 team has two matches left in the group stage against San Diego and Vancouver’s youth teams, but after a complete victory with 3 goals and a clean sheet against a strong Atlanta team, they will be confident in their belief that they can emerge from their group and qualify for the knockout round.
