UNIVERSITY PARK — FC Dallas opens up its Lamar Hunt US Open Cup campaign Wednesday night against OKC Energy FC, and the starting lineup looks fairly similar to a normal MLS one. FCD will look to improve its 8-2 4th-Round Open Cup record.
FC Dallas features eight of 11 starters from Saturday’s match against the San Jose Earthquakes, and it goes to show how seriously Head Coach Luchi Gonzalez is taking Wednesday’s fixture. Jimmy Mauer once again gets the start in net while Jesse Gonzalez deals with an injury, and the back line is led by Ryan Hollingshead, Bressan and Matt Hedges. Bryan Reynolds will get his first career start for FCD along with Brandon Servania and Ricardo Pepi.
Servania, Edwin Cerrillo and Paxton Pomykal rejoined the team this week after returning from international duty at the U-20 World Cup in Poland. Servania starts in the midfield, and the other two are featured on the bench. Pomykal featured for USA in its final match at the World Cup on Saturday, playing all 90 minutes against Ecuador. Servania and Cerrillo will be fresh and ready to go for Wednseday’s match.
PEPI MAKES HIS DEBUT
North Texas SC striker Ricardo Pepi will be making his FC Dallas debut Wednesday following his one-match loan that was announced Tuesday. Pepi has seven goals in six games with five starts this season for North Texas, and he has one assist as well. He is the USL League One goal-leader so far in 2019, and he will look to continue that trend against OKC Energy FC.
