LINEUP NOTES pres. by UnitedHealthcare: FC Dallas at Atlanta United FC | 4.20.19

ATLANTA, Ga. - FC Dallas heads back on the road for their lone meeting with Atlanta United FC this season.

SWITCH IT UP

For the first time under Luchi Gonzalez, Dallas will not line up in a 4-3-3 look, opting instead for what he calls a 3-4-1-2 look. Bressan makes his first MLS start in a three-man back line after making his FCD debut a week ago, while Ryan Hollingshead and Reggie Cannon push higher up into the midfield and Michael Barrios joins Jesus Ferreira atop the formation.

If needed, Dallas could rotate back to its 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 by moving Hollingshead up on the left wing and re-establishing a four-man back line with either Reto Ziegler or Bressan at left back.

WE MEET AGAIN

In last year's Copa Libertadores semifinal, Bressan, playing for Gremio, was called for a handball in the box in the 95th minute of Leg Two with a 2-1 aggregate lead. Pity Martinez, who weeks later would join Atlanta United, converted the ensuing PK and put his River Plate side through to the tournament final on an away-goal tiebreaker. River Plate went on to take the tournament title and now, the two foes take the field in Atlanta.

RETURN TO ACTION

Bryan Acosta makes his return to the bench after an ankle sprain has kept him out of the last two matches. Dominique Badji, who has missed three matches with a hamstring injury, returned to training on Wednesday this week, but did not travel with the team to Atlanta as he works his way back. The forward should be in consideration for next week's match in San Jose.
