FRISCO – U-17 striker Ricardo Pepi came in as a substitute in the 64th minute for the U.S. U-17 National Team in its first game of the 2018 Nike International Friendlies. The United States played Portugal to a 1-1 draw after giving up the game-tying goal in the 81st minute.
Pepi, who has 19 goals in eight matches for the FCD U-17s, did not find the back of the net for the United States, but his presence was still felt.
Pepi, the only player born in 2003 to get into the match for the U.S., was able to use his frame to win some balls and control play with his back facing the goal.
Pepi also had a couple of chances near the goal, but communication and timing issues prevented him to get on the scoresheet.
