INTERNATIONAL: Ricardo Pepi, Jonathan Gomez Called to US U-17 National Team for 2018 Nike Friendlies

FRISCO - FC Dallas Academy players Ricardo Pepi and Jonathan Gomez are headed to Florida to represent the U.S. U-17s at the 2018 Nike International Friendlies.

Pepi leads the nation with 19 goals in eight matches for the FCD U-17s this season and has played for both the U.S. and Mexico at the youth level. Gomez has played in eight matches for the 17s this season and has yet to appear at the U-17 level for the National Team. The duo are the only two players on the U.S. roster born in 2003, with everyone else born a year earlier in 2002.

Sean Tsakiris has named a 24-player roster for the annual series of matches, to be held at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2. The four-team tournament will feature the USA, Brazil, Portugal and Turkey. The USA kicks things off against Portugal on Wednesday, Nov. 28 (5:30 p.m. CT), takes on Turkey on Friday, Nov. 30 (5:30 p.m. CT) and wraps up versus Brazil on Sunday, Dec. 2 (4:30 p.m. CT).

All three of the USA’s opponents are frequent foes at the competition. Brazil has appeared at every edition of the tournament since it assumed its current format in 2008, and also sent teams in 2006 and 2007. Portugal and Turkey have appeared at the competition four of ten times since 2008, tied with England for second-most all-time.

All tournament matches will be streamed live on USSoccer.com.
