FRISCO – Adonijah Reid subbed into Canada's match vs. Guadelope in the 75th minute in and was an instant impact. With the game tied 1-1, it took Reid just four minutes to find the back of the net and give Canada the lead.
Theo Bair played a ball across the six-yard box and Reid was able to beat the goalie to the near post.
“I saw in the game that Guadeloupe left a lot of gaps," Reid said. "I thought we could capitalize off that, so I thought when I came on I could get a goal at least to help the team get the victory. I am glad I did and I am happy to help the team win.”
Reid was handed a yellow card in the 86th minute, but Canada was able to hold on. With the win, it moved to 2-0 in Group D of the Concacaf U-20 Championship.
Canada defeated Dominca 4-0 in the team's opening match. Reid played all 90 minutes in the match and recorded an assist and five shots.
Canada is looking to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup for the first time since 2007. It's toughest match will be on Tuesday when it faces Panama, the other undefeated team in Group D. Panama has outscored its opponents 9-1 in its two matches.
