FRISCO — FC Dallas will go on the road to face D.C. United on Saturday for the only matchup between the two sides in 2018. Dallas has won three consecutive matches in the series, with both Roland Lamah and Michael Barrios recording two points each in a 4-2 win in 2017.
Dallas is looking to widen its lead in the Western Conference and move closer to clinching a top-two seed and a first round bye.
D.C. is currently on the outside looking in to the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, but are only two points shy of sixth-place Montreal, who D.C. has played two fewer games than. D.C. is one of the hottest teams in the league right now, it has recorded points in each of its last six matches.
Since July 28, D.C. United has been dominant at home, recording an 8-1-1 record. D.C. has had a ton of success finding the back of the net in that span, scoring at least two goals in nine of the 10 matches, and three or more goals in five of those matches. The match vs. FCD will be D.C.'s fifth consecutive at Audi Field.
Matt Hedges vs. Wayne Rooney — Rooney is extremely dangerous around the box and has been able to find the back of the net recently. He has scored five goals in the last three matches, including a brace in a 2-1 win over Chicago last week. Hedges and Reto Ziegler will have their hands full all day.
Santiago Mosquera vs. Paul Arriola — Mosquera once again had his name on the stat sheet after he scored the opening goal against Orlando City SC last week. The goal came just six minutes after he entered the match as a substitute. For D.C., Arriola, usually a midfielder, filled in at right back last week after Oniel Fisher suffered a season-ending knee injury.
