FRISCO - FC Dallas holds a one-point lead in the Western Conference heading into this weekend's match vs. Columbus Crew SC.
Only three teams in the conference played last week, so there were not too many changes in the standings, but both Sporting KC and Portland earned results that could have playoff implications.
FC Dallas' four-point conference lead is back down to one after Sporting KC defeated Orlando City 1-0. Felipe Gutierrez scored his sixth goal of the season and first since March 31. Sporting has held clean sheets in five of its last six matches.
LAFC dropped back to third place during its off-week and will host the New England Revolution on Saturday. LAFC has recorded 10 points in its last four matches.
Portland defeated Colorado 2-0 at home to move into a tie for fourth-place with Real Salt Lake at 44 points, but has one more game left than RSL. Portland will now travel to Houston and face a Dynamo-team that is winless in its last 10 matches.
RSL will look to stay hot up top as it hosts Minnesota United FC. RSL has scored six goals in consecutive games, the first time in league history a team has had back-to-back six-goal games.
Seattle and Vancouver are currently sitting in sixth and seventh in the conference and will face off against each other on Saturday. Seattle will come in to the match riding a eight-game winning streak, outscoring opponents 19-4 in that span.
