FRISCO – The Boys' U-17 and U-19 will get its Academy season started on Saturday in Missouri against Sporting KC. Both teams are looking to build on last year's great regular seasons before being knocked out in the group stage of the Academy Playoffs.
The U-17 team had the best record in the nation last year with a 23-1-1 record and an astonishing plus-72 goal differential.
The team returns some starters from last season, including defender Nicolas Carrera, midfielder Cesar Garcia and goalkeeper Seth Wilson.
The U-19 team finished last season as the No. 2 seed in the country. It had a 21-3-1 record, scoring 3.6 goals per game.
The team will return 41 starts from the duo of Jorge Almaguer and Edwin Cerrillo.
A couple of players from last year's U-17 team have aged out and will now be on the 19s, including Tanner Tessman, Julian Hinojosa and Johan Gomez. Gomez scored 20 goals last season.
