FRISCO — The second match of the Texas Derby will take place on Thursday. The first meeting between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw where Matt Hedges scored in the first minute. FCD will look to build on its 2-0 win over Minnesota United FC.
Dallas will get Reto Ziegler back after his one-game suspension after a red card against Seattle.
Failure to Score
Houston has had trouble finding the back net as of late. It has not scored more than one goal in any of its last seven MLS matches. They have been without Alberth Elis the last two matches after a red card. Elis has nine goals and eight assists on the season and could create a new spark with the offense.
Pablo Aránguiz vs. Alejandro Fuenmayor — Aránguiz showed how dangerous he can be against Minnesota. His ability to put pressure and find holes through the backline could create many chances for FCD. Fuenmayor and Senderos will not only have to watch out for Aránguiz, but for guys making runs through the middle.
Reggie Cannon vs. DaMarcus Beasley — Cannon's offensive impact continues to grow. The right back made a couple of runs that resulted in great chances for FCD against Minnesota. His pace should allow him to create some space against the left side of Houston's defense.
Projected Starting XI
Houston Dynamo (4-4-2): Willis; Wenger, Fuenmayor, Senderos, Miller; Quioto, Ceren, Garcia, Martinez; Elis, Manotas
Keys to Three Points
Don't try to do too much too early. Houston has been one of the best teams in the league scoring early in games. Their 10 goals in the opening 15 minutes of matches is second-best in MLS. This happened last time FCD played them, with a Mauro Manotas goal in the eighth minute. On the other side, Houston has given up what is tied for the fourth-most goals allowed in the last 15 minutes of matches. FCD must remain patient and wait for their chances to come.
