FRISCO – FC Dallas center midfield Mauro Diaz can suit up with the MLS All-Stars against Juventus on August 1. You can vote to get him there.
Here are five reasons why you should vote for Diaz to make it to Atlanta.
Mauro Diaz has a knack for putting balls in the perfect spot. He is second in the league with nine assists for the season, a feat he has completed in only eight matches. He has 44 assists in his MLS career and led FC Dallas in assists per game in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Diaz tore his Achilles late in 2016 and returned to action just seven months after surgery. He then assisted on four goals in the team’s next seven games in his return.
Diaz is amazing to watch with the ball at his feet, and when he is not beating defenders, he is most likely getting fouled. He has been fouled 29 times this season in just 807 minutes. His average of being fouled once every 28 minutes is the fourth highest in the MLS for players with at least 600 minutes. He also led the league in the category in 2016.
MLS Best XI
Mauro was recognized as one of the best players in the MLS in 2016, when he made the league’s Best XI.
On May 12, Diaz tied FC Dallas’ record of assists in a game with three. He became only the third player in team history to achieve this accomplishment.
