POWER RANKINGS: Week Five Roundup

FC Dallas (1-0-2, 5 points) remains the only unbeaten team in the Western Conference. Admittedly, that would mean something if the club had played this past weekend. Regardless, it is nice to see a goose in the L column.

Dallas hosts the Colorado Rapids (1-1-1, 4 points), almost appropriately, on #NationalBeerDay this Saturday, April 7 at Toyota Stadium. The Rapids earned their first win of the season this past weekend after 3-0 win over the Union.

This makes Saturday’s game an early 6 (Dallas) vs 7 (Colorado) matchup just five weeks into the season.

Here’s where both FC Dallas and the Rapids landed in the latest MLS power rankings roundup.

1. New York City FC (+1)
2. Atlanta United FC (+3)
3. Columbus Crew (-2)
4. LAFC (no change)
5. New York Red Bulls (-2)
18. FC Dallas (-2) - No match for FC Dallas this week, so they lose a bit of ground to the surrounding pack.
22. Colorado Rapids (+1) - The Rapids won for the first time under Anthony Hudson on Saturday thanks to a hat trick from Dominique Badji. Colorado created good chances even before Badji's second-half breakthrough, encouraging signs for a Rapids team that doesn't have a lot of expectations in 2018

4. Columbus Crew SC (-2)
5. New York Red Bulls (-2)
10. FC Dallas (+3) - FC Dallas move up despite sitting out the week due to the unusual number of road wins in Week 5. Next up for them is a home game against a suddenly resurgent Rapids side. Can Roland Lamah continue his scoring ways?
20. Colorado Rapids (+3) - The Rapids' win is a big sign of improvement, and Dominique Badji is off to a very good start this season. But will they be able to do it in Frisco against an enigmatic FC Dallas side?
