FC Dallas receives fourth round pick in 2019 MLS SuperDraft
FRISCO – FC Dallas has traded forward/midfielder Shaft Brewer to LAFC in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
FC Dallas will also receive $50,000 of General Allocation Money for Brewer if certain playing conditions are met.
The attacker began his youth career with Sacramento Republic FC's academy, leading the U-15/16 side with 12 goals in his first season with the club. The 5-foot-9 attacker joined FC Dallas' youth system a year later, appearing in 15 matches (eight starts) for the team's U-17/18 side before signing with German side RB Leipzig.
A native of Sacramento, California, Brewer Jr. most-recently played for Leipzig’s U-19 squad, appearing in three contests, tallying his lone goal in a win over Osnabrück U-19 on Nov. 18, 2017.
Brewer Jr., 18, has represented the United States Youth National Team’s at the U-18 and U-20 levels, earning his first call-up with the U-18’s in April 2016. This year, Brewer Jr. has already been called to a pair of U-20 training camps, including the 12-day camp currently in session from March 17-28 in France and Spain. Brewer Jr. helped the U.S. to a first-place finish at the 2016 Vaclav Jezek Tournament in the Czech Republic.
