FRISCO, Texas – For most kids, a birthday is usually an excuse to have a birthday party and receive gifts from friends and family. But for Lincoln McWhorter, it was a platform to collect donations for the FC Dallas Foundation.
The Prosper Elementary 4th grader started playing with the FC Dallas Youth team in 2015 and is currently playing for Coach Bogus' 08B team. Lincoln's mom says his favorite thing to do is run around with his friends, so when they asked if he wanted to set up donations instead of gifts, Lincoln agreed on one condition – that he would still be allowed to run around and play with his friends.
"My husband and I didn’t grow up with the advantages that our kids have. We’ve made giving back to our community a priority, and as a way to get the kids involved and interested, we try and make it personal for them." said Lincoln's mom, Rosie. "Lincoln loves helping other kids, loves soccer, and loves his club, so partnering with the FC Dallas Foundation for his choice in giving was a no brainer."
The FC Dallas Foundation strives to positively impact the health and well-being of underserved youth through the sport of soccer. If you or someone you know is interested in making donations to the FC Dallas Foundation, or to learn more, click here.
