TUCSON, Arizona – FC Dallas drew 2-2 with the New England Revolution today in a preseason friendly at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona.

Mauro Diaz scored FCD’s first goal in the 15th minute while Santiago Mosquera, who signed with the club on Monday, set up Maxi Urruti’s goal in the 77th minute.

FC Dallas has one more preseason match remaining, this Saturday, February 17 (1PM CT live on, against the Portland Timbers in Tucson before facing Tauro FC in CONCACAF Champions’ League action. 

In the eighth minute of the match, Revs midfielder Wilfried Zahibo went in with a rash tackle on FCD midfielder Carlos Gruezo. Zahibo was sent straight off with a red card. Gruezo received treatment leading to his substitution for Victor Ulloa 27th minute of the match. New England was allowed to replace Zahibo with Diego Fagundez in order to preserve the integrity of the preseason match.

Diaz netted his first goal of the preseason after Michael Barrios and Urruti combined on the left side of the area in the 15th minute. Urruti beat his defender and got off a shot that required Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner to make a save. The rebound fell to Diaz, who finished easily inside the post to Turner’s left.

The Revolution evened the score, 1-1, just after halftime. Cristian Penilla found some open space at the back post and used a first-touch finish to beat FC Dallas goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer, just inside the right post.

Santiago Mosquera flew down the left flank, feinted near the top of the box, beat his defender to the end line and centered a pass for Urruti to finish in the 77th minute. The goal put FCD up 2-1 but New England batted back again in the 85th minute.

Second-half substitute Diego Fagundez worked through two FC Dallas defenders before passing the ball to Kelyn Rowe. Rowe’s shot attempt was blocked but the midfielder controlled the rebound and hit Fagundez with a return pass that was hammered home from close range to make it a 2-2 final.
