Winter Showcase

FC Dallas U-19s and U-17s Heading to US Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase in Florida

FRISCO - This weekend, FC Dallas’ U-17 and U-19 Academy teams will head to Lakewood Ranch, Florida, to partake in the 2017 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase from Nov. 30-Dec. 4.

In its eleventh year running, the Winter Showcase gives an opportunity for the top academies across the nation to compete against other top talents they would not normally face in their regular season schedule.

The No. 24-ranked U-19s will open the tournament against the No. 2 team in the nation, Pateadores FC, who are undefeated in DA regular season play through the opening months. They'll then face the No. 3-ranked Vancouver Whitecaps U-19s on Friday before closing out the showcase against the 37th-ranked LA Galaxy on Sunday.

The U-17s enter the tournament as the No. 2 team in the nation and will face No. 11-ranked Sacramento Republic FC on Friday before a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup against the top-ranked New York Red Bulls on Saturday. The 17s will close out the showcase against New York City FC on Monday in a match that will be streamed live on USSoccerDA.com.

The Showcase also offers an opportunity for talent identification, with 228 games taking place over the course of five days. Aside from the entire U.S. Soccer Youth National Staff being on site and present throughout matches, the tournament will also serve as an ideal place for college recruiting with over 400 scouts present, with foreign professional clubs also scheduled to attend. It also serves as a learning tool for the coaches, with experts leading discussions on teaching, leadership, periodization, mentoring and Youth National Teams.
