FRISCO - One Win. That’s all Seattle Sounders FC needs to clinch a playoff spot, but they know a “desperate” FC Dallas is coming in looking to take those same, crucial points.
“[Dallas] have had a tough time as of late. When you watch the last game they played, it was a tough game, but they were in it till the very end, their guys were fighting till the very end. They know the importance, so when they come here it will be the same thing,” said Sounders FC head coach Brian Schmetzer. “The match that we played down there already had playoff implications, so they will be prepared.”
Just a little less than a month ago, the Western Conference foes faced off in a 0-0 draw at Toyota Stadium. With two matches remaining, and that previous game still fresh in both teams' minds, Schmetzer and his men know what to expect from FCD.
“They've got pace in the wings," said Seattle forward Will Bruin. "They’re going to sit in and try and hit those guys high and wide and get us on the counter. I think if we control possession and control the tempo of the game, we’ll get our chances."
Following their surprise 2-0 loss against the Philadelphia Union in Chester, PA, last weekend, Seattle (12-9-11) has just one win in their last seven games and currently hold the fourth seed with 47 points in the Western Conference, behind Portland Timbers on goal differential.
