FOX Sports primetime broadcasts to feature intra-conference matchups, live studio coverage and digital whip-around show on FOX Soccer
FRISCO – Major League Soccer today announced that FS1 and FOX Deportes will carry four-and-a-half hours of MLS Soccer Sunday coverage on October 15, as flex scheduling during the penultimate week of the regular season allows partners to select the most compelling matchups seeding the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs.
As part of the coverage, FC Dallas’ match in Seattle against Sounders FC focuses the spotlight on the wide-open Western Conference at 6:30 p.m. CT on FS1 and FOX Deportes. The defending MLS Cup champion Sounders FC are well within reach of clinching a berth to the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs, but will be leaning on the finishing of U.S. National Team forward Clint Dempsey and his 12 goals to try and get past an FC Dallas side, which is clawing its way to remain in the playoff hunt.
Beginning at 4 p.m. CT, an all-Eastern Conference window opens with five concurrent matchups before the action continues at 6:30 p.m. CT with five Western Conference games and one inter-conference matchup – all kicking off at the same time. FOX Sports has selected a key matchup of focus in each conference, and will incorporate a live studio show with hosts Rob Stone and Alexi Lalas providing up-to-the minute highlights and live look-ins during the most captivating moments around the league.
In addition to the in-game and in-studio broadcast coverage, FOX Sports presents a special digital whiparound show on FOX Soccer’s social media platforms (Facebook / Twitter via Periscope / FOX Sports Go), where Rachel Bonnetta will navigate from game-to-game, highlighting the most defining moments as they happen in real time. Whiparound coverage will begin at 4:15 p.m. CT during the five Eastern Conference games before returning at 6:35 p.m. CT for the second slate of five simultaneous Western Conference games and one East-versus-West matchup.
“The Countdown to Decision Day presented by AT&T,” resumes to reevaluate the playoff picture and examine the final implications leading into Decision Day presented by AT&T on October 22. With reporters cutting in live from four key markets before and after the drama the unfolds, MLSsoccer.com will showcase the atmosphere of a high-stakes evening, allowing fans to join the conversation through the AT&T Hot Take Hotline by calling or texting their questions to (401) 206-0657, or by posting here in the Facebook comments section during the livestream.
Consisting of simultaneous matchups in each conference and one East-versus-West showdown, coverage of the Week 32 doubleheader will reach more than 170 countries worldwide.
