POWER RANKINGS: Week 27 Roundup

Not gonna lie: This was one of those weeks when scanning the latest MLS Power Rankings wasn't so much fun. After an incredibly disappointing 3-0 to Atlanta United last Sunday, FC Dallas (9-8-10, 37 points) is now winless in its last eight games and in sixth place in the Western Conference. The club has not won since July 22. That's a tough pill to swallow.

For a team looking for answers, the question gets more difficult as the defending champion Seattle Sounders (11-7-10, 43 points) visit Toyota Stadium on Saturday in a match presented by United Healthcare. Seattle hasn't lost since July 17 (2-1 to NYCFC) is currently second in the Western Conference.

Taking all that into account, let's take a look at the latest MLS Power Rankings roundup.

MLS

1. Toronto FC (no change)
2. New York City FC (no change)
3. Atlanta United FC (+2)
4. Seattle Sounders (-1) - An underrated aspect of the Sounders’ title defense has been their ability to come back late. Is it sustainable come playoff time?
5. Vancouver Whitecaps (+2)
13. FC Dallas (-2) - Things are unraveling in Frisco at a rate rarely seen in MLS history. Maybe a visit from some old foes will spark this reeling team?

ESPN FC

1. Toronto FC (no change)
2. New York City FC (no change)
3. Seattle Sounders (no change) - The Sounders are now unbeaten in their last 12 matches, but a 1-1 draw at home against the lowly Galaxy is a missed opportunity.
4. Atlanta United (+3)
5. New York Red Bulls (+1)
17. FC Dallas (-2) - FC Dallas would still be in the playoffs if the season ended today, but their defense is a mess, and they were lucky to only allow three on Sunday in Atlanta.

Soccer America

1. Toronto FC (no change)
2. New York City FC (no change)
3. Seattle Sounders (no change) - A goal off the bench by Lamar Neagle --two minutes after his entry -- from a superb serve by Roman Torres extended the Sounders’ unbeaten streak to 12 games, though this was a third straight 1-1 tie. Jordan Morris managed no shots in his sixth straight start before leaving with a strained hamstring; his replacement in the 61st minute, Will Bruin, took four shots and put one on target.
4. New York Red Bulls (no change)
5. Sporting Kansas City (no change)
14. FC Dallas (no change) - FCD drew the short straw in opening Atlanta’s new home and was a bit lucky to stay in the game as long as it did. The winless skid is eight games – during which is has conceded 19 goals -- heading into a crucial home game with Seattle on Saturday.
