Dallas looks to end five-match winless streak
FC Dallas (9-6-9, 36 points) visits the Columbus Crew SC (12-12-3, 39 points) on Saturday, August 26 at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, OH. This is the first and only meeting between the two teams this season. This will be the 46th meeting overall between the two clubs. FC Dallas is 17-18-10 against Columbus.
Part of the Original 10, With the Same Owner
On June 15, 1994, Columbus, OH was presented with the first MLS club, which was owned by Hunt Sports Group who, of course, also owns FC Dallas. The Hunt family sold the Crew to Anthony Precourt in 2013. Both the Crew and FC Dallas (originally known as the Dallas Burn) were among the original 10 MLS teams.
We’re Both Streaking
FC Dallas’ winless streak is now at five matches, the longest since May 15-June 19, 2015. In contrast, the Crew is undefeated in its last three games and has won three straight at home, dating back to July 22.
Run Through the East
Saturday’s match against Columbus marks a stretch of three straight games against Eastern Conference opponents. The New York Red Bulls visit Toyota Stadium on September 2, while Dallas travels to Atlanta on September 10. That match will mark the first professional sporting event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja is 23-9-6 against the Eastern Conference.
Last Time in Columbus
FC Dallas posted a 3-0 victory in its last trip to Columbus on September 6, 2015. That victory featured a Starting XI made of up five former FC Dallas Academy players: Kellyn Acosta, Coy Craft, Jesse Gonzalez, Victor Ulloa and Alejandro Zendejas.
Both Clubs Had a Busy Week
While FC Dallas played to a 3-3 draw against Houston on Wednesday at Toyota Stadium, Columbus is coming off short rest, as well. The Crew beat the LA Galaxy 2-0 on Wednesday at MAPFRE Stadium.
