DALLAS - FC Dallas has earned Best Sports Team honors in D Magazine's 2017 Best of Big D Awards!
Erykah Badu, DJ Spinderella, a smattering of real housewives along with some of the smartest and most innovative brands and businesses that Dallas has to offer ate, drank, danced and toasted at D Magazine’s Best of Big D party Wednesday night at the Bomb Factory in Deep Ellum.
“Yes, the Cowboys had a good run. But FC Dallas became the first Major League Soccer squad to earn more than 60 points in back to back season, winning the Supporters’ Shield and U.S. Open Cup in the process – while also fielding a historically dominant group of academy teams.”
With less than ten regular season games left in the season, FC Dallas is contention for a fourth-straight postseason run. In 2016, FC Dallas became the first MLS team to earn more than 60 points in back-to-back seasons, winning two pieces of hardware, the Supporters’ Shield and U.S. Open Cup. D Magazine’s editors noted FC Dallas’ historic run on the pitch in 2016.
This isn’t the first time FC Dallas has been recognized by D Magazine, either. In 2016, the team was named Editor's Choice Best Sports Team and Toyota Stadium was named Editor's Choice, Best Sports Venue.
