POWER RANKINGS: Week 24 Rounduo

FC Dallas is winless over its last four matches, going 0-3-1, and has been outscored 9-1 in those games. Dallas hosts the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday at Toyota Stadium before leaving Frisco on Friday for a road match against the Columbus Crew.

I contend that this run of games is a good thing for Oscar Pareja’s bunch. They were at their best when they were playing a lot of games (CONCACAF Champions League and US Open Cup) and didn’t have too much time to think. There are a number of factors that play into FC Dallas turning this thing around. I believe this could be one of them.

No shock that with the loss to Sporting Kansas City, FC Dallas dropped in the latest power rankings roundup.

Soccer America

1. Toronto FC (no change)
2. New York City FC (no change)
3. Seattle Sounders (+2)
4. Atlanta United FC (-1)
5. Montreal Impact (-5)
9. Houston Dynamo (-2) - Left home to rest for a run of three games in eight days, Erick Torres, Vicente Sanchez and Ricardo Clark sat out the defeat in Vancouver. Trailing 2-0 early in the second half the Dynamo got a goal from Romell Quito and threatened a few more times, so the battle with FC Dallas on Wednesday looks like a real Texas tangle.
13. FC Dallas (-2) - FCD is the other good team sinking like a stone but the problem is at the other end. In the last four games it has scored one goal and been blanked three times (obviously). Against SKC, FCD maintained only 38.1 percent of possession and managed only two shots on goal.
17. COLUMBUS (no change) - A free kick headed home by Lalas Abubakar and a few clutch saves by Zach Steffan earned Crew SC the point, a pretty good return from a match of being outshot, 20-4.

1. Toronto FC (no change)
2. New York City FC (no change)
3. Seattle Sounders (+1)
4. Sporting Kansas City (+1)
5. Chicago Fire (-2)
8. Houston Dynamo (no change) - A 2-1 loss to Vancouver means Houston drops out of a share of first in the West.
11. FC Dallas (-2) - Oscar Pareja's team is misfiring at a very bad time, with the race in the West so tight. FCD got just two shots on goal in a 2-0 loss to Sporting KC.
13. Columbus Crew SC (-3) - A big game in the Eastern Conference playoff race ended with Crew SC splitting the points in a 1-1 draw with Orlando.
