FRISCO – With the All-Star game against UEFA Champion’s League Winners Real Madrid on Wednesday, it feels like a perfect time to take a look around the MLS standings and see how the Western Conference lines up.
FC Dallas has been moved from the top spot after this weekend’s results. It is now Sporting Kansas City who sit atop the West on 36 points. FC Dallas sits in second on 34 points, and two games in hand on Sporting KC.
Both Texas clubs find themselves above the red line as Houston sits in third on 33 points, and the Cascadia clubs round out the top six. Portland and Seattle are tied on 31 points, while Vancouver occupies the final playoff spot with 30 points.
The San Jose Earthquakes sit just outside a playoff spot with 29 points in seventh place. In eighth, Real Salt Lake has 25 points, and the LA Galaxy are hot behind them on 23 points. The Loons of Minnesota United have finally made the jump out of the Western Conference’s basement to occupy 10th on 22 points.
The Colorado Rapids sit last on 20 points from 20 games played. The final push to get above the red line is coming.
