POWER RANKINGS: MLS Week 18 Roundup

With a win over Toronto on Saturday followed by a July 4th win against D.C. United by the score of 4-2 in the books, FC Dallas has some time off before an Open Cup match on Tuesday, July 11 against Sporting Kansas City. FC Dallas won’t play another MLS match, courtesy of the Gold Cup break until Saturday, June 22 against Montreal.

The 3-1 victory win over Toronto, who came into the matchup with an MLS-best 35 points, propelled FC Dallas in the latest power rankings roundup. Let’s take a look at where Dallas landed among various polls. Keep in mind, these lists were all done prior to Tuesday’s match against United.

MLS

1. Chicago Fire (+1)
2. New York City FC (+2)
3. Toronto FC (-2)
4. FC Dallas (+1) - Mauro Diaz is back and suddenly all their other attacking players are better. Funny how that works, isn't it?
5. Sporting Kansas City (-1)

Soccer America

1. Chicago Fire (+1)
2. New York City FC (+1)
3. Toronto FC (-2)
4. Sporting Kansas City (no change)
5. Atlanta United (+2)
6. FC Dallas (+2) - The acquisition of Roland Lamah has been a bit of a disappointment, yet he scored twice in the first 21 minutes to set in motion a convincing FCD victory. Max Urruti’s goal, which produced the final scoreline, is his 10th of the season. He also assisted on Lamah’s opener in the fifth minute.

ESPN FC

1. Chicago Fire (+1)
2. Toronto FC (-1)
3. New York City FC (+2)
