FRISCO – It’s only week three of the MLS season, but FC Dallas is in midseason form.
FC Dallas is making the commitment to keep the guys fresh for Wednesday’s CONCACAF Champions League semifinals match. Saturday saw a younger than usual Starting XI that included Paxton Pomykal, Jacori Hayes, and Carlos Cermeño. “Each and every game is just a chance to showcase our talent. I know the guys, we’ve been working hard each and every week. And we train for the results that we need,” said Kellyn Acosta on SiriusXM’s United States of Soccer. The 21-year old midfielder stressed that the team isn’t listening to any outside noise. “As a team we’re not really looking at what other people have to say. We’re a little more focused on ourselves and collectively go out there and do our job.”
And head coach Oscar Pareja has been preparing the team for just that. From taking the team on a 10-day trip in Argentina for a rigorous preseason schedule, to balancing the start of the MLS season with advancing to the CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals for the first time in club history. How hard has it been to juggle it all? Kellyn stresses team chemistry is key. “It’s definitely tough. Going straight from preseason to competitions, it’s tough. We played a lot of preseason games in Argentina, got acclimated to each other. Team chemistry is at an all-time high. Guys are really positive going into this year and I think we’re gonna do great things.”
You can hear Kellyn Acosta's entire interview On Demand on Friday’s episode of SiriusXM FC’s “United States of Soccer” with Jason Davis. The showairs Monday- Friday from 10am-12pm CT.
