Through his 12-year MLS career, Atiba Harris has achieved many things, but he has never had the luxury of spending three straight seasons with the same team.
That will change in 2017, as FCD and Harris have come to terms bringing back the versatile veteran for another season at Toyota Stadium.
“From the get go, I always wanted to be here, but last time around circumstances were different with the expansion draft but this is a good organization and good team,” said Atiba Harris who was plucked from FC Dlalas. “Hopefully we can do great things.”
Atiba has already done some pretty great things with more than 30 appearances for Oscar Pareja’s side in all competitions last season stepping up at big moments with goals in two of four CONCACAF Champions League group stage matches as well as two assists in the MLS Cup Playoff 2nd leg against Seattle at Toyota Stadium.
“It all starts with the coaching staff. They’re very motivated and push us every day to be the best we can be,” said Harris. “We got two trophies and three if you include Brimstone Cup, but the MLS Cup is that missing piece there and I think this organization deserves an MLS Cup and hopefully 2017 is the year but first we will deal with the Champions League.”
The goals have certainly grown in the two years Harris and his family have called Frisco home since returning for a second stint and Harris says his family is excited to not be changing their address after two seasons.
“Last time I was here, Frisco had the stadium and nothing else,” said Harris. “We came back and my wife really loves it here. “My oldest daughter is in school now and she’s basically a Texan.”
