FRISCO, Texas (Friday, Feb. 12, 2016) – FC Dallas has acquired forward/midfielder Carlos Lizarazo on loan from Cruz Azul, pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and ITC, the club announced today.
“Carlos is a very talented player,” said FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja. “He is very technical, very vertical with a powerful shot. He will add something different to our team. He is an intelligent and he can play forward.”
Lizarazo, 24, has played in 105 first division matches for Deportivo Cali since joining the club in 2009. The forward/midfielder netted 14 goals in six seasons before joining Cruz Azul last season. His loan to FC Dallas is set to last one year.
“I am going to give [Lizarazo] a time frame of two or three months to get fit,” added Pareja. “After that, he’ll need to face some competition [to get match fit]. He needs some games, some repetition, but I am glad to be the team that gives him this opportunity. He needs this chance and we were willing to bring a guy that we know will help us in the long run.”
With FC Dallas’ home opener at Toyota Stadium just 23 days away, the team is sending signed Carlos Lizarazo photos to the first 50 accounts that purchase tickets to the game against the Philadelphia Union. The match, which is set for Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m. CT, is presented by AdvoCare.
