Academy Update: Teams roll on against MLS rivals

FRISCO – The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams traveled south last weekend for a quintet of matches against in-state MLS rivals the Houston Dynamo. All five teams met the challenge and remain unbeaten on the young season after four wins and a draw against Houston.

FC Dallas U-18s: 3
Houston Dynamo: 0

After celebrating its first national championship in the Houston Dynamo's BBVA Compass Stadium, the FC Dallas U-18 Academy team returned to the Space City with a triumphant 3-0 shutout of the Dynamo. This one was over before the break, as forward Bobby Edet put Dallas up 2-0 with goals in the 10th and 21st minutes and Homegrown midfielder Kellyn Acosta capped off the scoring in the 40th minute with his second goal in as many games for the U-18s. Goalkeeper Jose Gonzalez maintained the shutout through the second half to clinch the second straight win for FCD.

The U-18s are now second place in the Frontier Division with six points and two games in-hand over first-place Sporting Kansas City.

FC Dallas U-16s: 4
Houston Dynamo: 2

The U-16s also remained perfect, doubling up the Dynamo with a 4-2 win in Houston. Three different players bagged braces in that match. Aaron Meyer scored the first goal of the match in the sixth minute, and Santiago Agudelo doubled the lead in the 28th. Christian Lucatero pulled one back for the home side in the 40th minute, but the lead was restored just before the half when Meyer scored his second of the match. Agudelo scored again nine minutes into the second half to make it a three-goal lead. Lucatero found the back of the net again in the 76th minute to pull his team to pull his team to within two, but it wasn't enough to deny FC Dallas the win.

The U-16s have also climbed to second in the Frontier Division with six points and two games in-hand over first-place Sporting Kansas City.

FC Dallas U-15s: 0
Houston Dynamo: 0

Although the U-15s didn't pick up a win over the weekend, they did remain undefeated after a scoreless draw with the Dynamo. The FC Dallas U-15s are in second place in the Texas Pre Academy with a record of 2-0-1 and seven points on the season.

FC Dallas U-14s: 5
Houston Dynamo: 3

The U-14s remained unbeaten after coming out on the winning end of a high-scoring affair with the Dynamo. Houston posted three goals in the match, but Dunan James, Benji Granillo and Chase Niece scored a goal apiece and Alejandro Zendejas bagged a brace to earn a 5-3 win for FCD. The U-14s are in third place in the Texas Pre Academy with seven points and a record of 2-0-1.

FC Dallas U-13s: 2
Houston Dynamo: 0

The U-13s are the only perfect FC Dallas Pre Academy side after earning a third straight win with a 2-0 shutout of the Dynamo. Aksel Gerber scored in the match and Simeon Salazar scored his second in as many games to earn the win for FCD. The U-13s are number one in the Texas Pre Academy with nine points through three games played.

The Academy teams will be back in action this Saturday when they visit Solar Chelsea SC for the first meeting of the season between the two clubs. The Pre Academy teams will be at home this Sunday, as they host the Dallas Texans at the Complex at FC Dallas Stadium.
