1) FC Dallas enjoyed a dream start with their earliest goal of the season thanks to Zach Loyd’s 5th minute diving header. The beautiful buildup to the goal began with Daniel Hernandez’s corner cleared out to Jackson 40 yards from goal. The Brazilian’s chip into the box found Andrew Jacobson who smartly headed across the box to Loyd for his second goal of the season. What won’t be seen on the scoresheet that played a vital part in the goal was Brek Shea’s run across the box that pulled defender Logan Emory out of position - opening up the space that Loyd exploited for the goal.
2) A defensive moment of madness allowed Toronto FC to equalize in the 31st minute. Terry Dunfield’s cross was not cleared effectively by James Marcelin, allowing the ball to stay alive in the box. After a few pinballs, former FC Dallas man Eric Avila was allowed to send a cross in that Danny Koevermans flicked past Kevin Hartman. It was Koevermans’ ninth goal of the season and fifth straight game with a score. FCD will be extremely disappointed with the goal conceded as there were multiple occasions to clear the ball to safety that weren’t taken.
3) The moment FC Dallas fans have been waiting 15 months for finally happened in the 58th minute as 2010 MLS MVP David Ferreira returned to the FC Dallas Stadium field for the first time since breaking his ankle way back on April 23, 2011. His return nearly paid immediate dividends as one of his trademark through balls found a streaking Brek Shea. Unfortunately, TFC defender Logan Emory was able to cut the ball out just in time preserving the draw for Toronto.
