Academy Update: FCD go 4-0-1 against Lonestar

FRISCO, Texas – The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams won four of their five matches against Lonestar SC on the Complex Fields at FC Dallas Stadium last weekend. The U-18s, U-16s and U-14s each posted shutouts in their final tune-up matches before they kickoff their Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXIII campaigns this Sunday.

FC Dallas U-18s: 5
Lonestar SC: 0

The U-18s got back in the win column on Saturday after suffering just their second loss of the season the previous week. Jose de la Tejera got the scoring started in the first half for FC Dallas with his eigth goal of the season. The squad piled on the offense in the second half, with Homegrown striker Jonathan Top netting a brace, and forward Bobby Edet and midfielder Marco Ortiz contributing a goal each. The result was the 16th shutout of the campaign by the U-18s.

The win furthered FCD's Texas Division lead to 14 points ahead of second place Texans SC Houston. The U-18s have an overall record of 19-2-3 with seven games remaining in the 2011-2012 Development Academy season.

FC Dallas U-16s: 1
Lonestar SC: 0

The U-16s also bounced back from a loss last weekend, grabbing a result from their match with Lonestar at the last minute on Saturday. The two sides played a scoreless first half, and after coming back from the break, FC Dallas went down a man in the 61st minute after a second yellow was issued to Alex Radilla. After playing the final 19 minutes of regulation shorthanded, Antonio Aguilar found the game-winner in the 91st minute to earn the full three points for FCD.

The win helped the U-16s climb to second place in the Texas Division with an overall record of 11-5-8, 10 points behind the Dallas Texans.

FC Dallas U-15s: 3
Lonestar SC: 0

The U-15s also posted a shutout against Lonestar SC. They won 3-0 on Sunday, with Santiago Agudelo scoring a pair and Miguel Ojeda netting his first goal since October. It was the third straight win for the U-15s, who now own a record of 7-4-2.

FC Dallas U-14s: 4
Lonestar SC: 0

The U-14 Pre Academy team maintained their dominating form by beating Lonestar 4-0 on Sunday. Christian Ramirez scored his third hat trick of the season as he raised his goal total to 19, and Delfino Garcia added the fourth FC Dallas goal. The U-14s remain undefeated with a record of 14-0-1.

FC Dallas U-13s: 2
Lonestar SC: 6

The U-13s suffered the only loss of the weekend, as they fell to Lonestar by a score of 6-2. Duncan James scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season and James Niece scored his third in the effort. The U-13s have a record of 6-8-1.

The FC Dallas Academy teams and the U-14 Pre Academy squad will now prepare to compete in the prestigous annual Dr Pepper Dallas Cup tournament beginning this Sunday. As usual, the U-18s will compete in the Gordon Jago Super Group as they face Manchester United in the marquee game on the opening day of the tournament as part of a triple-header of matches taking place inside of FC Dallas Stadium. The next day they'll face Tigres of Mexico at Richland College before rounding out the group stage against Costa Rica's CS Cartagines on Wednesday.

The U-16s will start off their Dr Pepper Dallas Cup campaign on Sunday afternoon when they face Ottawa South United Force Academy. They'll then face New Jersey's TSF Academy Diablos on Monday and NM Rush Nike of New Mexico on Wednesday. The U-14s open up the tournament against Mexico's Seleccion RCL Soccer Monterrey on Sunday, face Chicago Magic on Monday, and California's Milan FC Rossoneri on Wednesday.

Other FC Dallas teams that qualified for Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXIII include FC Dallas '95 Boys Premier, FC Dallas '98 Boys Premier, and FC Dallas '99 Central, all of whom also have games scheduled this Sunday, Monday and Wednesday.
