Academy Update: Busy weekend sees FCD go 6-2-0

FRISCO, Texas – Last weekend was a busy one here at FC Dallas Stadium. While the first team kicked off their 2012 campaign with a win against the New York Red Bulls, the complex also played host to the second annual FC Dallas College Showcase. But the hectic schedule didn't stop the Academy and Pre Academy teams from playing eight games in two days.

FC Dallas U-18s: 5
Classics Elite: 0

The U-18s drilled Classics Elite 5-0 in the third meeting between the two clubs this season, all three of which ended in FCD's favor. Midfielder Marco Ortiz got the scoring started early for FC Dallas, scoring in the seventh minute of the match. Ortiz scored a second goal in the 43rd minute to give the home side a 2-0 lead at the half.

After the break captain Mikey Ambrose made it a three goal lead with his first goal of the season in the 58th minute. Twenty minutes later Jose de la Tejera made it 4-0, and Ambrose capped off the scoring with his second of the match in the 87th.

The win maintained FCD's 11-point lead in the Texas Division. The U-18s now boast an overall record of 17-1-3.

FC Dallas U-16s: 2
Classics Elite: 0

The U-16s remained undefeated against Classics Elite this season, shutting out the San Antonio side 2-0 Sunday afternoon. U.S. U-17 Residency alum Vernon Bailey got the first goal in the 11th minute, and Abdul Yassine scored in the 61st minute. Yassine has scored in three straight games and leads the U-16s with nine goals on the season.

With an overall record of 9-4-8, the U-16s remain in third in the Texas Division, three points behind second place Texans SC Houston and 10 points behind the first place Dallas Texans.

FC Dallas U-15s: 2
Lonestar SC: 1

The U-15 Pre Academy team got two wins on the weekend, the first being a 2-1 result over Lonestar SC. FC Dallas got goals from Christian Ramirez, who now has 16 goals on the season, and from Santiago Agudelo.

FC Dallas U-15s: 2
Springfield: 1

The U-15s posted an identical result against Springfield, once again getting a goal from Agudelo. FCD's other goal in their second win was scored by Ricardo Gonzalez.

FC Dallas U-14s: 4
Lonestar SC: 0

The U-14 Pre Academy team also got two wins last weekend, shutting out both of their opponents. The first was a 4-0 win over Lonestar SC. Domenick Faletto scored a brace in the match, and Richard Tapia and Alejandro Martinez contributed a goal each.

FC Dallas U-14s: 1
Classics Elite: 0

The U-14s also shut out Classics Elite 1-0. The game-winner in that match was scored by Jessi Najera, his 10th goal of the season. The U-14s boast an impressive 13-0-1 record this season.

FC Dallas U-13s: 2
Lonestar SC: 5

The U-13 Pre Academy team suffered two losses last weekend. Bryce Johnson and Evander Ramirez each scored against Lonestar SC, but the team wound up on the wrong end of a 5-2 result.

FC Dallas U-13s: 0
Classics Elite: 2

The U-13s went scoreless against Classics Elite, dropping a 2-0 result to their opponents from San Antonio. The squad has an overall record of 6-7-1.

Up Next: vs. Crew Soccer Academy and Internationals

The FC Dallas Academy will have some inter-divisional matches this weekend as they play host to two Ohio-based clubs in the Crew Soccer Academy and Internationals from Cleveland. The undefeated Crew U-18s lead the Great Lakes Division with an overall record of 5-0-1, while the U-16s are 4-1-1. Internationals U-18s have an overall record of 4-1-0 and their U-16s have a record of 2-2-1.
