10 a.m.: We're still an hour away from the draft beginning. First activity of the morning is the coaches photo shoot that just occurred. Mostly, though, it's quiet in the convention hall as team officials and media trickle in.
10:30 a.m.: Finally some noise in the convention hall. The unlikely faceoff of Sporting KC's supporters' chants vs. Lady Gaga blarring over the speakers.
10:45 a.m.: And we have our first trade of draft day. Portland reportedly sending Kenny Cooper to New York Red Bulls for draft pick, cash.
10:50 a.m.: MLS Commissioner Don Garber addresses the crowd before the draft telecast begins. Garber says the "great support of our supporters" is one of the biggest reasons for the league's growth. He also called 2011 "arguably the best year in the history of MLS."
Garber also namechecks Brek Shea. Shea was the first player Garber named when explaining the importance of the MLS SuperDraft.
10:58 a.m.: Adele's "Rumor Has it" is playing in the convention hall right before the ESPN2 telecast goes live. Appropriate song for a draft day, right?
11:06 a.m.: Commissioner Garber announces Montreal's No. 1 pick in French. They select forward Andrew Wenger from Duke.
11:25 a.m.: This statement was tweeted via @FCDallas - "We're aware of Brazilian reports that Jackson is returning home. We're in talks with a Brazilian 1st division side. No official deal done."
11:30 a.m.: San Jose selects forward Sam Garza. Some FC Dallas fans were hoping Garza might land in Dallas.
11:54 a.m.: FC Dallas selects University of North Carolina player Matt Hedges with the 11th pick.
12 p.m.: Hedges makes his way through the media area, doing interviews with print, TV and online journalists.
12:25 p.m.: First round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft ends.
