FC Dallas hosts 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup third round match

FRISCO, Texas (June 16, 2011) – FC Dallas will play host to either the Charleston Battery or Orlando City Soccer Club in the third round of the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas on Tuesday, June 28. The match is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. CT.

Tickets are $10 for current FC Dallas season ticket holders, with a special free ticket offer coming shortly for all intended returning season ticket holders renewing their seats for the 2012 season. While 2011 Flex Vouchers are not valid for this game, FC Dallas partial package ticket holders can buy general admission tickets for $12. General admission tickets for non-plan holders are $15.

USL PRO sides Orlando City SC and the Charleston Battery will battle in second round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup action at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C. on Tuesday, June 21. The winner will travel to Frisco, Texas the following week to face FC Dallas, who earned a place in the tournament by finishing in the top six during the 2010 MLS regular season.

Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Champions in 1997, FC Dallas has faced the Charleston Battery three times in U.S. Open Cup history, winning in 2006 and 2007 before falling 3-1 in 2008. The Battery went on to defeat the USL First Division Seattle Sounders in the tournament semifinals in 2008 before dropping a 2-1 decision to D.C. United in the final. FC Dallas has never faced Orlando City SC in the U.S. Open Cup.
