Looking Ahead to FC Dallas' First Game Back vs. Nashville SC

FRISCO, Texas – Not once, not twice, but three times FC Dallas and Nashville SC will face off this season to make up for the games they missed during the MLS is Back tournament.

Dallas and Nashville were forced to withdraw from the tournament after both clubs experienced COVID-19 outbreaks in Orlando before the competition began. With the tournament’s three group stage games counting towards the MLS regular season, the teams will now face each other three times this year with the first two meetings taking place next week.

In the first match, FC Dallas hosts Nashville on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 7:30PM CT pres. by Toyota (TXA21, FCDTV, TUDN 1270AM, FCDallas.com/Radio) and the second game will take place Sunday, Aug. 16 at 7:30PM pres. by WinStar World Casino and Resort. Their third and final meeting will be scheduled for a later date.

“Obviously, there’s challenges in trying to beat the same team three times," said Luchi Gonzalez. "But our focus is not on the second or third game. To be honest, those games do not exist right now. We’re just focused on what’s right in front of us which is the training and preparation for game one.”

Having gone four months without a competitive fixture, Dallas’ second-year coach is just happy his team will be playing games once again.

“We’re excited to represent the club again at a professional level and play here at home; doing what we love to do,” Luchi said. “Especially after the experience we had in Orlando, we’re very motivated to get back on the field for our fans and families.”

Nashville got two games in to their debut MLS season before play was halted back in March. Although the newcomers are still winless, FCD's coaching staff aren't taking their visitors lightly.

“They’re a good team,” Luchi said. “Obviously, they’re new in the league but they’re not new as a club. They were successful is USL, they’ve formed together a good roster with good individual players, and we expect a very good game and we respect them. But at the same time, we know we have to do that by attacking them, putting pressure on them and pushing the game so we can earn three points.”

In addition to Nashville, FC Dallas has six other matches currently scheduled as the regular season gets back underway:
